Coronavirus is “a blemish… on a beautiful lady” -Leon Cooperman
The infamous crying billionaire, Leon Cooperman, is back at it again folks.
Since the Coronavirus began spreading, efforts to contain it in China have resulted in factories being temporarily closed, shipping being slowed, and order fulfilments being delayed or cancelled outright. As a result, there have been legitimate fears that response to the virus will have long term negative impacts on global economic activity.
If the virus were to spread and cause similar disruptions to other countries in the global supply chain, growth could grind to a halt and deliver the long anticipated recession indicators have been pointing to for awhile now.. Some analysts have gone so far as to speculate it could be worse than the Great Recession.
But many disagree, especially the crying billionaire. No, to Leon, the market is a sexy lady. A real hot dame with gams for days. A classy broad who couldn’t be persuaded to slum it with the likes of a bear market, and the recent coronavirus related market drops nothing more than a blemish on her angelic face. A beauty mark, not a bubo or pustule.
Cooperman’s really telling on himself here. He sees the economy the same way he sees women, in instrumentalized, libidinal terms. Both objects to fulfill his base desires.
It should come as no surprise that he followed this up by claiming Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren were a bigger threat to the economy than Coronavirus, but with an equal certainty they’d soon be vanquished as well.
Let’s all hope he’s given ample reason to cry again soon.
